Finishing and galvanizing treatments
Each piece is made from a particular type of steel according to its final use, and then undergoes a carbonitruration heat treatment to enable the screw to penetrate hard materials (4.6 and 4.8 class screws are not subjected to this process), as well as galvanizing which confers colour and resistance to atmospheric agents. In accordance with the European Community Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive “RoHS” 2011/65/CE, which stipulates norms regarding restrictions in the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic appliances (EEA), aimed at safeguarding human health and the environment, comprising the ecologically correct recovery and disposal of EEA waste, Ambrovit S.p.A. presents its special CR3 galvanizing treatment which is hexavalent chromium-free and available on all products in the catalogue marked by the symbol.
Other galvanizing treatments available are yellow, tropicalized and black, as well as nickel plating, brass plating and bronze plating, with aesthetic purposes. 4.8/8.8/10.9 graded products, produced in conformity to standards laid down by UNI EN ISO 898:2013 are constantly being introduced with new production lots. In fact, at the present time, only a part of warehouse stock still corresponds to the specifications indicated in the old UNI EN ISO 898 and 2001/2009 norms. Finally, the special SILVER 1.000h coating for screws to be used on lamellar wood beams is available today. This is a three-layer inorganic treatment that ensures high resistance to corrosion. As well as guaranteeing up to 1,000h sea mist resistance in conformity with the ISO 9227 standard, it also improves screw performance. On demand, special zinc finishes may be supplied, providing high sea mist resistance of up to 380h.
All the screws listed in the catalogue are treated with a standard galvanising treatment in the range of 3-5 microns
